The inevitable happened

We live in a building that is access controlled. When visitors come over, they have to call in order to get buzzed in. This weekend, Hobie finally figured out that when the house phone rings, it means people are coming over. As soon as we hung up the phone, he gave a preemptive bark and ran around the apartment, working himself up. Once he hears the knock on the door, he explodes into a barking frenzy.

Our ringing phone is equivilent to a door bell. Sheesh.

To minimize frightening the pizza delivery guy, one of us takes Hobie into the bedroom and we close the door. He's figured that being shut in the bedroom, even with one of us with him, means someone is coming over. He barks as if he's being tortured. Poor dog.
